Functional Neurology C.E.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend continuing education at Tufts University, which focused on pain management and Functional Neurology. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn from professionals in the fields of veterinary rehabilitation and equine lameness evaluation and treatment.
There was a lab portion of the conference where I was able to perform ultrasound of the neck and back of horses to assess the vertebral column as well as the musculature of the back and joint spaces within the vertebral column. The main goal was to locate joint spaces and learn where injections can be made.
At this point, I won't be injecting any backs, but it was extremely interesting to assess the muscles and look for abnormalities of boney structures and joint spaces. I'm very excited to continue learning more about pain-management as it relates to rehabilitation, and hope to enroll in a spinal manipulation (animal chiropractic) certification program within the next year.
